Minutes, 1-11-06 Hello everyone, Today at the meeting, we discussed a few things. We will continue to discuss many of these items at the next meeting - come to the next one, Wednesday of 4th week, 6pm at Hutch! Also, welcome to Anees! 1. Mitsuwa trip with JAS: January 21. Look out for emails from Mike about this, or email him for more info on exact times and modes of transportation. 2. We have acquired (legitimately!) "Howl's Moving Castle," and plan to show it in the future. Date TBD. If anyone has any ideas for a good time/place, email plz. 3. J-Club is co-sponsoring a discussion amongst a group of Japanese feminist speakers who have made a documentary film. Look out for posters up this week about it. 4. Stephen's "Artificial Lovers" concert is coming along well: it is set for May 12, 2006, at Ida Noyes. He will keep us updated about this matter. 5. Mitcho proposed an idea for a J-Club t-shirt idea: a picture of Koizumi's face, complete with the wild hair, with the phrase "Koizumi is my homeboy" underneath. Some politically concerned members were iffy about this idea, or were mumbling incomprehensible things about it, but I think a t-shirt is in order if we have the funds. Any other ideas? No offense to Mitcho - there is no denying that Koizumi is the most fashionable, cool PM Japan has had since the Yoda-looking man. 6. For UChi-Con, which will be during Spring Quarter, we are looking to show a movie - we can show "Howl's Moving Castle," "Battle Royale," "One Missed Call," "Pulse," or somehow show some drama series, like "GTO." This issue to be discussed further as time goes on. 7. Stephen suggested that we have some more "formal" gatherings. We discussed this for a while, and came up with the following ideas: biweekly meetings, a trip to the Osaka Garden, a potluck dinner (perhaps at someone's apartment), holding an academic discussion with Normal Field that includes the participation/ attendance of KSO or CUSA, and my personal favorite, a J-KRUNK PARTY (at someone's apartment?). Of these ideas, for sure, we will hold more regular meetings. The next one will hence be on Wednesday of 4th week at 6pm in Hutch. I hope I didn't miss something important. Oh yeah, if you weren't there, you missed out on Mike's awesome mint chocolate chip cookies. Also, I hope everyone's quarter is starting off well. Jyane. Your royal secretary, Kei
