Minutes, 1-3-05 Greetings, happy new year. I deliver notes on our administrative-type meeting regarding nothing but Iron Chef. And the definition of the verb "to budge," which may be a midwest thing. First, we discussed the IRON CHEF COOK OFF, coming this Saturday 1/8/05 6pm at Shoreland. The main ingredient is the orange, and cooks will have 45 minutes to prepare two dishes. Seeing that we need the main ingredient for the cook off, we decided that this Thursday evening, using Mitcho's amAzing car, select board members will go to the Hyde Park Produce and pick up 45 oranges of three kinds. Shawn will also ask for confirmations from the chefs for this Saturday. Next, we discussed the REAL IRON CHEF. Scripting must begin ahead of time, though there will be much "recycling" from last year. Potential judges: Annie of Culinary Club, heads of RSOs (OLAS, SASA, Sista Friends, CUSA, KSO), and two professors through Mitcho & Shawn. Potential emcees: Mitcho & Cassie, or connection through Mitcho (RA or someone from his house [he's the prez of his house!]). A name "Kim" was thrown out as an option, also, I believe an acquaintance/friend/ roommate of Cassie's. Potential kaga: if all fails, Kentaro will come to the rescue! We need to make signs. We will give FireEscape the option of what gift certificate they want. They get $100 to split any way they want. We need to buy the Iron Chef winner a knife, and we will give the runner-up a knife sharperner, a left- over from last year. (So they can sharpen their skills.) PowerPoint Presentation is in the hands of Mitcho. Budgeting for the REAL IRON CHEF can have its own section in these minutes. We agreed that we will take inventory of materials from last year at the cook off this Saturday and then based on that, turn in the budget next Monday. Under budgeting, the following places will be contacted, and by whom: Citibank owes us ~$750; Morgan's for tablecloths and napkins; costumes for kaga suits & possibly chef outfits (Cassie) Hall's rentals for oven burners etc.; sound & lighting equipment from ORCSA (Mickey) Most of the meeting comprised of the details of the budget, seeing what we needed and making sure everything was covered. So this is about it, actually. But as promised, the definition of 2005: "To budge" means to cut in line. Often used in lower grade school, possibly mainly in the midwest.
