Minutes, 5-12-04 1) Showing of “Avalon” with PASA This will definitely take place on Thursday the 20th. Shawn will email PASA asking for the exact time and telling them about the “dumpling wars” (Gyoza vs. Pierogi) idea that we have. We will get about $30 worth of Gyoza from a restaurant in Chinatown (email the listhost if you can come to get the Gyoza on Thursday before the showing). 2) Iron Chef Footage This is actually on Toshio’s hard drive. Mitcho will edit it over the summer, so before then he will have to get it onto _his_ hard drive. 3) Summer Breeze This is taking place Saturday, May 22. We will try to do sumo wrestling with Polaroid picture taking (the wrestling will be free, but patrons will have to pay for the Polaroid). Shawn will call the companies that he has numbers for. If sumo wrestling falls through, then we will turn to kendo with picture taking (Cassie and Satomi know a little about this). It is a little dangerous though. If that falls through, we will try to have face cut-outs in large ukiyoe-esque backdrops with Polaroid picture taking, but we will really have to get on the stick if we are doing that. Other alternatives include Dance Dance Revolution, selling/making iced mochi (which can be purchased at Trader Joe’s in Skokie or the Chinatown supermarket), and ramune taste testing (we could get the ramune from Trader Joe’s in Skokie or the Korean supermarket near Chinatown). Estimated expenditure: $800. 4) Board Positions The board positions go like this: President: me Vice President: Aza Treasurer: Cassie (Spring, Winter), Shawn and I (Fall) Secretary: me, until we get a first-year rep to fill this position Technician/Techie (website administration*, video editing, etc.): Mitcho Recruiter (of Hot Boys): Mari Marketer: Aza and Mitcho Special Events Coordinator/Kaga: Shawn *have to talk to Diana Doty in RC 001 about getting website administration authority 5) PanAsia Receipts Vince should turn in his PanAsia receipts to Annie or someone else from PanAsia to get his money back. 6) Citibank Check Cassie will call Citibank asking where this thing is. 7) Final Study Break We will hold this either in Osaka Garden, at the Point, or in the Midway during tenth week. The food will come from downtown Ginza, if possible (does anyone [Sonny, Sayaka?] have their phone number?). Otherwise, it will come from Matsuya of Belmont. (We will try to establish a long-term relationship with the caterer. Also, next year Aza will have a car that can shuttle us between the caterer and the University.) But the most exciting part shall be smashing watermelons! (we will have to buy three of these and a bat) and flying kites! (weather permitting). Estimated expenditure: $500.
