Minutes, 2-10-04 1) PanAsia We will show three movies at PanAsia this year like we did last year. They are “Ririi Shushu no Subete” (“All About Lily Chou-Chou”), “Tanpopo,” and “Odoru Daisousasen” (a.k.a. “Bayside Shakedown”). I have a DVD copy of “Odoru” and Toshio has a copy of “Lily” (not yet confirmed with Toshio). We are considering asking Japanese Cinema Professor Michael Raine to introduce the movies for us and hold a brief discussion session after each. ***Finally, the question of our needing to submit a budget to the PanAsia committee was raised by Sayaka after the meeting adjourned. Does anyone know anything about this? 2) Iron Chef DVD The Mitcho and Toshio are in the process of creating the Iron Chef: Chicago 2004 DVD. 3) GTO As interest has died down, we will no longer attempt to show episodes of the live action drama Great Teacher Onizuka at meetings this year. 4) Budget Cassie reports that our budget is in the red and will remain so until we receive our Iron Chef stipend from Citibank in April. 5) Fundraiser We will try to sell iced mochi to the university community to raise funds for the club in Spring Quarter. 6) Mitsuwa We will look into organizing another trip to Mitsuwa Marketplace this quarter. (Suggested by Sarah.) 7) Joint Film Screening with PASA Shawn is in correspondence with the Polish-American Students Association about finalizing the details (time, place, snacks, &c.) of a joint screening of the Polish-Japanese movie “Avalon” directed by Mamoru Oshi. 8) ***Reimbursing the Chefs The issue was not raised in today’s meeting, but if we have not yet reimbursed the chefs for their Iron Chef expenses, then we should do so immediately.
