Board Meeting Minutes, 10-19-03

1)	The Second General Meeting

	We will hold a second general meeting on Wednesday, Oct 29th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.  The topics of
	discussion will include the upcoming Mitsuwa Trip and electing J-Club representatives.  Afterwards, we
	will show episode two of GTO.  Vince will work on acquiring the key to the A/V cabinet (remind me to
	bring my S-video cable, if necessary).  I will send out a notice to the listhost.


2)	Mitsuwa Trip

	The Mitsuwa Trip is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th, from 10pm to 2pm.  We are going to require
	that those who wish to attend RSVP to me.  For transportation, we will ask Regine about renting a van,
	and we may also inquire with people close to the board who have cars (Vince, Sonny, Toshio, Cassie’s
	friend [forgot his name…]).  If worst comes to worst, we can take the CTA.


3)	J-Club Representatives

	This is the working title for the two officer-elects formerly known as “First Year Representatives.”
	At the second general meeting, Shawn and Satomi will talk about their experience as J-Club Reps and we
	will ask for applications.  The application will consist of the applicant’s name, year in school,
	relevant past experience, and an answer to the question, “What would you make J-Club?”


4)	J-Table

	J-Table did us the favor of providing us with a strong connection to graduate students; we plan to
	return the favor by organizing groups of J-Club members who wish to attend J-Table together—provided
	that J-Table is still in operation.  Vince will email the J-Table listhost to ask what’s going on this
	year.


5)	Faculty Advisor

	Although Mr. Ketelaar has agreed to be our Faculty Advisor, we believe he will be too busy to advise us.
	We look to ask Mr. Noto, Ms. Miyachi, or Ms. Fields to take his place.


6)	Iron Chef Chicago

	Iron Chef Chicago (ICC) is still a bit too far away for us to be talking in detail about it, but we
	should definitely address the following issues at our upcoming ICC-only board meeting: drawing chefs from
	U of C only, holding auditions for chefs, holding auditions for an MC, contacting Culinary Club and
	Off-Off Campus for these purposes, getting a knife, getting a new speaker system.  Before this ICC
	meeting, however, we must send out a general interest letter to all cultural RSOs about ICC in general
	and about our need for chefs and an MC.
