Board Meeting Minutes, 5-6-03

The result of today's meeting with SGFC?  Expenditure approved!  The SGFC will take care of the $800 to rent
sumo suits for Summer Breeze, provided that we charge admission of $1 per person.  We love this year's SGFC. ^_^
Now then, on to the minutes.

1)	Fundraiser

	No longer having the option of selling food from Kikuya, the consensus was to make our own food--namely,
	yakitori.  For this purpose, we will need a grill, which would be better purchased than rented so that
	we may minimize our expenditures in the long run (see below).  The grill shall be purchased from Ace
	Hardware or a similar vendor.  Additionally, we will need ingredients, which a group of board members
	will purchase this weekend from Mitsuwa.  Finally, we agreed on holding the fundraiser Monday through
	Friday of 7th week from 11am to 1 or 2pm in the Reynolds Club Courtyard.


2)	Jay Monteverde's Minority Barbecue

	We envision our yakitori being such a taste sensation that we plan on making it again for Jay
	Monteverde's Minority Barbecue, scheduled for the Friday of 7th week.  The cost benefit of buying a
	grill instead of renting one becomes quite plain, we noted, in light of the necessity of a grill for
	this event as well as the fundraiser.  The last order of business on this topic was to highlight the
	need for poster advertisements.


3)	Summer Breeze: Sumo Wrestling

	Aside from lauding the providence of the SGFC as noted above, our only other business on this topic
	was to address the need for poster advertisements.


4)	Budget
	We currently have a budget of approximately $1260, the bulk of which if leftover from Iron Chef.  We
	must take care to spend these funds considerately to avoid what befell the ASU during the International
	Food Festival (frozen assets--a chilling thought).  In particular, we have one large outstanding debt
	that we must repay with part of this budget.


5)	General Meeting
	We decided to hold the next general meeting Wednesday of 7th week, right smack dab in the middle of the
	fundraiser.  At the meeting we will make sure to discuss the events we addressed at tonight's board
	meeting.
